Thermal Encounter

By Charlotte Poitras

Artist Statement: This piece, created using a thermal camera and recolored in the hues of the bisexual pride flag, portrays two feminine figures facing one another—perhaps lovers, perhaps mirrors of the same self. The rounded central form, evoking a breast, a mountain, or a planet, becomes a metaphor for the internal landscape of coming to terms with one’s identity: something to climb, to embrace, to understand.

Charlotte Poitras is a bisexual writer and multidisciplinary artist based in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Her work explores feminist and queer perspectives through literature, visual art, and experimental storytelling.
