In the wall there it was
A circle lined with dark wood.
The perfect spot to sit, lay, or to look through at what is happening in the next room.
It is a perfectly cut out circle.
No beginning or end
just like the cyclical nature of time
or so it felt to me.
Walking down the stairs I stop.
To my left, there it is,
the circle through the wall.
When I peer through it,
I see my family sitting together next to the lit tree
opening the gift of our connection.
Time works like this right now,
my life must keep going in a big circle
always coming back to these moments.
Mischievously, the gaping and smooth hole in the wall welcomes me to sit,
and I do.
Peering from above,
a voice, firm, yet filled with love, tells me to get down
so instead
I go through the circle in the wall.
Life will always be cyclical like this
coming back to this house full of love
and sitting here in the hole in the wall,
hoping to always hear the voice telling me to get down
and always letting me go through.
