We did it! On May 9, 2026 the Los Angeles Bi+ Task Force pulled off our third annual B+ Well: A Wellness Conference for the Bisexual, Pansexual, and Fluid Community and Allies, held on the campus of Long Beach City College. The event’s focus was on wellness: self-care, healthy relationships, and personal and professional growth.
It was super exciting moderating our esteemed keynote panel featuring OGs and OOGs Dr. Marge Charmoli and Tara Madison Avery (both of whose work has appeared in BWQ), and Stephen David Simon, discussing their coming out journeys in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s and how far the community has come.
We have so much strength, talent, and resilience within our community and we really have all the answers we need, even in the challenging political climate here in the U.S. Some people came up to me to share how much they learned about the community and about themselves, with renewed hope and confidence. And like Dr. Charmoli said, “Be yourself because no one else is uniquely like you. No one else has been and no one ever will be.”
It was a joyful gathering of new and old faces from the local area and also people from Northern California and beyond. Love, joy, and warmth radiated throughout our wonderful day of wellness.
I also couldn’t have pulled this off without the talented and dedicated B+ Well team who planned this with me for nine months, friendly and energetic volunteers, generous sponsors, and supportive community partners. It really takes a village to maintain a village and I am so very proud of what we created together.
