Dr. Mimi Hoang was presented with a Community Engagement and Advocacy award today at the Division 44 Awards Ceremony at the convention of the American Psychological Association held August 6-8, 2026 in Washington, D.C.
About this, she wrote:
“I’m incredibly honored to receive the Bisexual Issues Committee’s Community Engagement & Advocacy Award from APA Division 44—Society for the Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity. I feel tremendously grateful to receive this prestigious award from my national professional association and to be recognized for being a psychologist who wears many hats as a clinician, scholar, educator, and community builder who uplifts the marginalized and often invisible bisexual, pansexual, and sexually fluid community.”
This is a newer award sponsored by the Bisexual Issues Committee, and it is only in its second year—the inaugural award was given in 2025 to the extremely deserving Dr. Tania Israel, another bicon of the U.S. bi+ community. Readers of this publication may know her as the writer of bikus (bisexual haikus).
Here is a description of the award: “The BIC Community Engagement and Advocacy Award recognizes individuals who have made impressive contributions to advancing the well-being of plurisexual people. The award honors advocacy, education and community-building efforts to support plurisexual people across all areas of society. This award was created to celebrate a broader range of achievements beyond research and more traditionally scholarly accomplishments.”
