Ageism, a comic by Aubrey Hirsch

Sep 2, 2025 | 2025 Fall - Aging

Artist Statement: I made this comic as a way to untangle my own feelings about aging in a world that tells women our worth has an expiration date. I wanted to capture the tension between the pressure to stay young and the deeper truth that aging is living. We can choose to see wrinkles and silver hair as problems to be solved, or we can view them as markers of our blessings.

Here are two photos that show my transition from dying my hair super dark brown to letting it shine in its natural color! For me, this is most representative of my journey to lean into the changes that come with aging, instead of fighting them.
